Dr Smith has provided advanced laparoscopic surgical services for the communities of the Northern Beaches and North Shore for over 20 years.

Dr Smith was involved in the design and fit out of Wyvern Private Hospital to ensure that the facility provides state of the art laparoscopic surgical services.  In addition to modern laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery the operating theatres at Wyvern Hospital are equipped perform surgery using needlescopic (3mm incision) surgery.

Dr Smith consults regularly in the Wyvern Consulting Suites in the main hospital building.  Dr Smith sees insured and uninsured patients and is able to perform surgery for uninsured patients at Royal North Shore Hospital.  Dr Smith has held several senior academic and clinical positions including

• Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Sydney

• Member of the Court of Examiners, the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons

• Chair. Sydney upper gastrointestinal surgical society

• Founding executive member Australia and New Zealand Gastroesophageal Surgeons Association

• Director of Surgical Training Northern NSW Network

• Supervisor, Royal North Shore Hospital Fellowship in Oesophagogastric and Bariatric Surgery.
